So, Why do birds fly in v shape?

Because v for victory

Just Kidding!

Ans: The V-Shape movement makes their flight easier.

How?

When the bird flap its wings, The air behind the bird gets a downward force. While the air towards its sides makes an upward force.

This downward and upward force produces a Rotating Vortices

Now, these rotating vortices help the bird behind it, to stay in the air without much effort. However, this increases the pressure on the bird in front of it. Hence these birds in v shape change positions accordingly so as to migrate more from one place to another.

The Bird at the back gets an upward pull due to rotating vortices created by the lead bird.

These birds replace their position in between. The bird goes in front to give another bird rest and the process of rotating vortices is continued.

Another reason for the V formation is that it is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. Flying in the formation may assist with the communication and coordination within the group. Fighter pilots often use this formation for the same reason.

These fighter jets use the same technique as birds to fly together.
